Cincinnati Astronomical Society Public Outreach

Not just including our monthly programs, the Cincinnati Astronomical Society during the year holds outreach programs throughout the tri-state area. Programs can be tailored to fit the intended audience from primary school to college, and to the general public. If desired, our members can bring their telescopes and show you the wonders of the nights sky.

We also partner with local scouting troops. These include the Boy Scouts of America and Cub Scouts of America as well as the Girl Scouts of America. If you are a scout leader or den leader who would like to find out how CAS may be able to assist you and your group please let us know.

You can contact us by going to our contact page.

Among other stargaze events that CAS has put on or helped out on a ongoing basis:

  • National Astronomy Day at Newport on the levee.
  • Caesar Creek
  • Keener Park
  • Fernald Preserve
  • The Cincinnati Obeservatory Center's "Scope Out"
  • Hamilton County Park District Stargaze after "Night Hikes"

Among our other affiliations and partnerships we are a member of NASA's JPL Night Sky Network. This membership among other benifits, allows us access to outreach toolkits to use during outreach programs. The kits have been designed and tested by amateur astronomers and expand our range of tools to use in public star parties, school visits, and community events.
